Asiyla Gum Company has created thousands of jobs at its 19,966 ha of acacia plantations in Senegal for impoverished people living in rural communities. Furthermore, as an aware and responsible company, and spearheaded by our Chairman, Mr Youssef Abdulatif Jameel, we have made contributions towards education, health and basic necessities to uplift the lives of its employees and their dependents.
Education is the path to a better future. We give school and text books, and scholastic materials to primary schools. We also maintain and repair schools when required along with providing hygienic solutions by building toilet and more.
Promising students in rural communities are granted scholarships to continue their higher education in Europe. Some of these students return to Senegal, to serve their country in the private and government sector.
Most of our communities are in rural areas, above sea level and the land is very dry. Naturally, the availability of running and drinking water is an issue with people spending hours daily in search of potable water. We recognized this issue way back in 2004 and contributed towards water supply solutions in Boulal and Mboula rural councils.
A human being’s greatest asset is good health. By establishing clinics in areas where basic health care providers are close to zero, the company is contributing to the wellness of rural populations. The clinics offer free medical services and medicines to all, but they make a great difference to old people, women and children who are not in a position to obtain medical services.
